The goal of “Black Above the Line” is to provide participants with the necessary skills and experience needed to enter the film industry. After a couple of sessions led by industry professionals, participants wrote, pre-produced, and shot three short films over the summer.

In this opportunity, the CMML partnered with “Black Above the Line”, by inviting participants from the “Free Film School” to collaborate in the production of the shorts. The CMML also provided all the necessary audiovisual equipment for the production.

This collaboration provided an invaluable opportunity for graduates of the “Free Film School” to deepen their skills in lighting, sound, and camera operation. With mentorship from both CMML and “Black Above the Line” professionals, participants gained practical experience by working on professional sets.

Over the course of a month, the program challenged participants to apply their training in real-world scenarios. This collaboration not only enhanced participants' skill sets but also allowed them to work with potential colleagues and other professionals.
